Will it be Yes or No to the ICJ?

BBN Staff:On April 10, 2019, Belizeans will participate in a historic national referendum and decide whether or not to take Guatemala’s claim on Belize’s territory to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for final settlement.

The ICJ awareness campaign has intensified with an increase in public fairs, talk shows and information sharing.

Today, the official ballot was released.

On referendum day Belizeans will be asked:

“Do you agree that any legal claim of Guatemala against Belize relating to land and insular territories and to any maritime areas pertaining to these territories should be submitted to the International Court of Justice for final settlement and that it determine finally the boundaries of the respective territories and areas of the Parties?”

Belizeans must mark an X beside the Yes or NO on the right side of the paper.

Remember to be informed and exercise your democratic right by inking those fingers on April 10, 2019.
