By Aaron Humes: Guyana saw out a tense second half to eliminate Belize from CONCACAF Gold Cup contention by a score of 2-1.
The Golden Jaguars had their chances to put the game away but Woodrow West was a rock in goal.
Our Jaguars had their share of efforts as well but were consistently denied by the Guyana defense.
Belize had 46 percent of possession and 7 shots all game but only 1 on goal in addition to Elroy Kuylen’s free kick.
Guyana are all but qualified in fifth place while Belize finishes in the lower reaches with a positive goal differential of plus 3.
Belize is now locked into Group B of the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League.
