As is now traditional, Belmopan area representative and Minister of National Security John Saldivar responded to Opposition Leader John Briceño.
He pointed out that the P.U.P. has made its promises before to the Belizean people, and it would behoove them not to fall for that again.
Saldivar quipped that for the P.U.P. to be chastising the U.D.P. for its failures in reducing debt and reviving the economy is like “The Devil talking about sin.”
There was not much mention of the crime epidemic but Saldivar stood by his administration’s economic policies.
This afternoon it was the turn of Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, reiterating that the Opposition has no leg to stand on.
Faber said that both Musa and Hyde had their foibles and indeed their fall-outs, contrasting with the mostly tight partnership of the U.D.P.
Faber’s presentation was briefly interrupted by Moses Sulph, shouting from the galleries that the Government should raise the minimum wage to help ordinary Belizeans.
The debate continues through this evening and into Tuesday.
