By BBN Staff: Belize has taken first place in the internal Baker 2 Vegas Relay competition in the United States.
A contingent of 25 law enforcement officers will return home today with the three-foot trophy given to the group of top performers among officers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada.
Belize entered for the fourth consecutive year, placing 6th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st respectively.
The team’s performance broke the record of the Los Angeles Police Department, who has won the title for seven consecutive years.
The Belize men ran in the 20 legs of the relay, spanning 120 miles distance from Baker, California and over state lines into Nevada ending at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas.
The team returned home at 1:30 this afternoon.
