By Aaron Humes: Belize has learned it’s fixtures for the group stage of the first-ever CONCACAF Nations League after the draw was held Wednesday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Jaguars renew hostilities with former World Cup qualifying opponents Grenada and St. Kitts – Nevis and face French Guiana for the first time in League B, Group A.
Belize swept past St. Kitts – Nevis in a home and away series in 2006, where the matches were played in Guatemala City as Belize had no suitable football pitches.
The Jaguars lost at home to the Spice Boyz in the next World Cup qualifying cycle before getting an away win. Our last encounter was a four to two friendly win.
The stage will be home and away with the winners promoted to League A and the bottom team relegated to League C. The winners of the League A groups face off in a four-way final for the overall title.
The rest of the draw is as follows.
League A, Group A: United States, Canada, Cuba.
League A, Group B: Mexico, Panama, Bermuda.
League A, Group C: Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Martinique.
League A, Group D: Costa Rica, Haiti, Curacao.
League B, Group A: French Guiana, St. Kitts – Nevis, Belize, Grenada.
