The P.M. said that the Leader of the Opposition John Briceño should know that it was the P.U.P. who initiated plans for the Caracol Road, paying nearly 4 million in 1998 after their election for a design of the 30 plus mile road. He quoted predecessor Said Musa as telling a visiting delegation from the Inter-American Development Bank that it was one of the then-administration’s highest infrastructural priorities.
The P.M. scorned the “transparent nonsense” of the P.U.P.’s denunciations, describing it as “absurdity, the height of hypocrisy and of course, the epitome of that, perhaps, most pernicious of all sin- envy, envy…. We the hypocrites walking see the hypocrites talking.”
It was noted that almost $20 million was spent by the-then P.U.P. governments on designs and preliminary improvements of the Coastal and Caracol roads.
BBN will have our review of the road to the Caracol and Coastal Roads in future articles.
