Police say Wednesday morning shooting was drug-related

By BBN Staff: Police investigators in Belize City have identified a motive for a Wednesday morning shooting incident which left one man dead and another injured.

Police say that the deceased, Jordan Lorenzo, 22, and the injured Rakeem Cruz, 17, both left Dangriga over the weekend en route to Belize City.

Here it is believed the men, who are known to police, came for a drug transaction.

Investigators revealed that shortly after 6 a.m. two of their friends had left the house where the shooting occurred to complete an errand.

That was when two other men entered the house in the CET Site area of Belize City and opened fire as the two Dangriga men slept.

Police have since detained two men for questioning.
