Posted: Friday, March 29, 2019. 10:41 am CST.

BBN Staff: The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement department (ICE) says that Belizeans were among some 54 persons detained in an immigration raid in El Paso Texas on Tuesday.

Members of the HSI El Paso Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), which includes U.S. Border Patrol agents and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers carried out the raid at a house that was suspected to be a stash house for smuggling illegal immigrants.

“The group consisted of 45 adult males, five adult females, two accompanied teenagers, and two teenagers traveling alone from the following five nations: Belize, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico,” the ICE said.

The ICE added that some of those detained had been at the stash house for more than a week, while others needed medical attention for injuries they sustained while crossing into the US. Authorities have since arrested and charged one Mexican man following the raid.
