By BBN Staff: World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated annually on April 23.

Each year, the Belize Book Industry Association (BBIA) joins in the worldwide celebration by organizing Book Week.

The theme for this year is “BOOK IT!”

The programme will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3rd at the Leo Bradley Library in Belize City.

The activities will continue at the University of Belize, Belmopan Campus during the Belize National Research Conference on April 4th, then at the Cayo Welcome Center in San Ignacio on April 5th from 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m.

The three-day Book Week programme includes a book fair, book exchange, storytelling, games, and interactive sessions on editing, copyright (by BELIPO) and book binding.

Through collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Belize, the annual Literary Evening with its lively performances and open mic will be held at the Mexican Cultural Institute, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

The Literary Evening will feature Belizean authors (e.g. Margaret Reynolds and Joey Garcia) and Mexican author and editor, Oscar Benassini.

The events of Book Week 2019 are free and open to the public thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Belize National Library Service and Information System, the National Institute of Culture and History, the Belize Book Industry Association and local businesses.

Belizeans are all invited to participate in these exciting activities.
