Posted: Wednesday, April 3, 2019. 9:38 am CST.

BBN Staff: Mexican editor and writer, Óscar Benassini, is in Belize joining in the celebration of Book Week 2019.

Benassini was editor of the arts magazine La Tempestad (https://www.latempestad.mx/) from 2007 to 2019.

Benassini is the founder of the independent publishing house Solidarity Press.

Since 2017, Benassini coordinates the editorial services branch Golem Ediciones, for the Mexican publishing house Sexto Piso (http://sextopiso.mx/), where he conceptualizes and develops different editorial and audio-visual initiatives.

Benassini will be performing live reading and discussion of a selection of Central American, modern and contemporary writers tonight commencing at 6:30 at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Belize City.

Readings will be done in Spanish and English.

This interactive literary activity is to identify and get to know the main authors and recent literary movements in Latin America, in order to confer the importance of the Spanish language in history, and its possible relation to the English language in the present of Belizean literary creation.
