Belizeans busted in US on drugs and firearm charges

By BBN Staff: Two Belizeans, Charles Baizar and Jermaine Belgrave will stand trial in the United States after a drug deal ended in a shootout with Pennsylvania Police.

A judge decided that both men had a case to answer to, following a preliminary hearing today. The prosecution played surveillance footage, which showed both men in the shootout on February 7, in which they were both injured.

Authorities say that the pair had driven from Chicago in an attempt to sell US$80,000 worth of heroin, but were robbed of some of the drugs by their buyers, who are still at large.

Both men are in the US illegally and are expected to be deported after the trial.
