Wanted Argentinian expelled from Belize

By BBN Staff: Over the weekend, Breaking Belize News (BBN) broke the story about Alberto Samid, a 71-year-old Argentinian businessman wanted for tax evasion who was hiding out in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Since his detention over the weekend, reports are that Samid has been expelled from the country.

Authorities took Samid to Belize City yesterday as a part of the expulsion process, and reports are that he was out of the country by day’s end. He was expelled because Belize has no formal extradition agreement with Argentina.

Samid owes his country an undisclosed amount of money in taxes for his livestock and meat shop firms. The International Criminal Police Organization, issued an advisory after BBN published a story on Samid being sighted in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
