Police seize over 50 pounds of marijuana

By BBN Staff: Authorities have seized over 24 kilos, some 53 pounds of marijuana that were being smuggled into Belize through the northern border.

Police say that officers responded to a call at the northern border yesterday, where customs officials turned over a man who had a bag containing some marijuana.

 Police also reported that three other men were seen trying to escape through some bushes, so they pursued and captured them. During the capture, police found another bag containing more marijuana, which was added to the first.

All four persons are detained pending charges of drug trafficking.
