Police officers to get cheaper bus fare rates

Posted: Saturday, April 13, 2019. 11:53 am CST.

By BBN Staff:The Belize Police Department (BPD) has worked out a deal with Belize Transit System (BTS) to offer police officers traveling from Corozal to Belize City a reduced rate.

The BPD explained this morning that the parties officially signed the contract in Friday, April 12, and that the arrangement is not a new one but rather a re-engagement between the parties.

Under the arrangement, officers traveling between Belize City and Corozal will only pay $7 as opposed to the usual $9.

Similar initiatives to improve the quality of life for police officers have been emerging since Chester Williams became the Commissioner of Police. Williams has also pledged to see the establishment of a pilice daycare center so officers will have a safe place to leave their children while on duty.
