By Aaron Humes: The take may have been meager – approximately 2 thousand dollars in cash and cheques. But the location – the office of the Registry of the Supreme Court on the first floor of the Supreme Court Building on Treasury Lane – is most surprising and disturbing.
Worse, the young men who pulled off the heist – a minor and a man in his twenties – managed to elude the security guards on duty until it was too late.
Both our court source and credible police sources say that around 6:22 p.m. the men entered the office armed with an imitation firearm and knife, respectively, and held up Registrar Triennia Young while the money was being counted.
The office normally closes at 5 pm, but while surveillance footage caught them going in and coming out, two security guards posted on the verandah across from the Supreme Court building did not see the robbers enter.
Initial Police investigations reveal that upon their exiting the building one of the female security guard saw them exit but she apparently didn’t think that anything was out of the ordinary.
But as they ran off the male security guard on the verandah set chase to no avail. They got away on parked bicycles on the hedges by the Court of Appeal building going towards the Bliss Center of the Performing Arts.
Since reviewing the court surveillance footage police have an idea of whom one of the suspects may be. No arrests have been made yet.///
