By BBN Staff: Belizean born boxer Jarrell “Big Baby Miller,” who was scheduled to fight for the world heavyweight Championship title on June 1, is facing a year’s suspension from boxing after failing a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) test.
Miller took the test on March 20, and the results recently came back positive for GW1516, a performance-enhancing drug which is prohibited in professional sports. The drug is reportedly so dangerous that in 2013 the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) issued an advisory in an attempt to protect athletes using the drug from serious harm.
CBS Sports published an article today, saying that the venue and date for the fight with reigning champion, British fighter Anthony Joshua, is already set so it is likely that another fighter will take Miller’s place.
CBS Sports also noted that this is not Miller’s offense, citing his nine-month suspension from kickboxing back in 2014. The fight had generated major public anticipation in Belize and with Belizeans abroad, who were all hoping Miller would put Belize on the map for boxing greatness. Several prominent members in the sports community had all publicly expressed their support for Miller, who had been enthusiastically representing Belize every chance he got.
