“I messed up. I made a bad call. There’s a lot of ways to handle a situation; I handled it wrongly and I’m paying a price for it, I’ll miss a big opportunity.”
Undefeated heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller addresses his fans and supporters in Belize and abroad with these words in a short Facebook video posted this evening after news broke earlier today of a second failed drug test in as many days.
Miller’s March 31 sample to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency contains human growth hormone, a banned substance; his first on March 20 contained a different but similarly banned substance.
Miller, now without a license to box in the state of New York and out of a near five million US dollar prize fight with World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, acknowledged that he has hurt those closest to him, including himself, with this double blow. But he promises, “I’ll own up to it, I’m going to deal with it, I’m going to correct it and I’m going to come back better… it’s time to get right and do right.”
He does not go into detail as to what caused the substances to show in his blood and does not directly address his former opponent.
Miller now likely faces suspension by boxing authorities though there is a slim chance a negative B sample can change his fortunes.
