By BBN Staff: Renowned Belizean artist, David “Ras Indio” Obi, is advocating for Belizean music to receive more air time with his new project “On the radio.”
Indio told Breaking Belize News today that the new song and accompanying video, to be released on May 1, is all about acknowledging the diversity of Belize music and calling on radio stations at home and abroad to play Belizean music in all its forms.
Indio directed the video himself, and it was produced through his production company Indigenous Records and Indigenous Films.
The video also features a myriad of Belizean artists making guests appearances, such as Worl Fuego, Tanya Carter, Ras Nkrumah Obi, Eazy B, Supa G, DJ Bush, Jah Thunda, Capleton, Brick city, Eljai, Cocono Bwai, Stig da Artist, Boss Lady, Ras Kiat, Ernestine Carballo, Unlmtd, Daddy Tracy, Jah Art, and Winty J just to name a few.
“From all the artists that I’ve spoken to, one of the hardest things for them to do is get their music on the radio,” Indio said. “I was inspired to write this song because it’s something that has been going on for years.”
