Inmate Kevin Moore dies after being shot while attempting to escape

By BBN Staff: Nineteen-year-old Kevin Moore, a recent inmate of the Belize Central Prison died today after he was shot when he attempted to escape.

Moore was placed on remand on April 2, 2019 for charges of ‘aggravated assault’.

According to a police report, around 9:00 a.m. today, Moore was released into the Tango Six compound for recreation.

That is when Moore ran to the back of Tango 6 and scaled over the fence, then he ran towards the main prison fence where he scaled the fence and escaped.

Moore was shot to his left and right thigh when prisons officials were attempting to recapture him.

Moore was then taken to the Central Prison medical facility and later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
