Degron Joseph “jacked” CitCo money at Michael Finnegan Market

Posted: Wednesday, May 1, 2019. 9:42 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: 20-year-old Degron Joseph has been charged for the theft of $930. The money is proceeds of the Belize City Council (CitCo) that was collected from vendors at the Michael Finnegan Market on West Collet Canal.

Joseph is accused of stealing the money and two receipt books in a purse held by Special Constable Michael Craig, who was escorting collector Rhona Martinez to the market office on Saturday morning, April 13.

When Craig went to the Precinct One Police Station to report the theft, he saw Joseph, the alleged culprit, already in custody.

But he pleaded not guilty to the CitCo theft before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford and set bail of $1,000. He returns to court on June 18.
