3 killed in less than 24 hours in Belize

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department is investigating three separate murders which occurred within the last 24 hours.

The first murder occurred just before 7 o’clock last night.

That was when Alberto Requena was attacked while making his way home from work.

His attacker stabbed him multiple times and left him for dead in a drain near mile 15 of the Stann Creek Valley Road.

The culprit and the murder weapon are in the custody of the police.

The second murder occurred sometime around 9:50 p.m. last night.

Belize City police were called to Lopez Street where they found Hamed Guzman, 30, suffering from gunshot injuries.

He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead.

Initial investigations revealed that he and another man had just exited his home when a gunman ambushed him.

That gunman is yet to be identified by police.

The third murder occurred at around 8 o’clock this morning.

The victim has not yet been identified.

However, police revealed that he was alone in an apartment on Coconut Drive in San Pedro when he was shot dead.

He was found motionless in a sitting position.

According to police, no one has yet been detained.
