By BBN Staff: Belize’s health system has ranked 69th out of a total 190 according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The WHO has been ranking health systems since 2000 on a series of performance indicators to gauge the overall level and distribution of health in the populations, and the responsiveness and financing of health care services.
Other criteria include attainment of health goals, health expenditure per capita, and performance on the level of health.
Belize places just above Turkey and just below St. Lucia. The top three spots on the list went to France, Italy, and San Marino respectively. Notably, neither the United States or Canada is in the top 25.
