Birders across Belize get ready to participate in Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s–Global Bid Day on May 4th, 2019

Posted: Friday, May 3, 2019. 10:31 am CST.

GBD is an extreme all day bird watching event!  Since its launch in 2015 it has attracted thousands of novice and experienced bird watchers across the world. Last May, more than 30,000 people took to fields and forests around the world, recording more than 7,000 species in a single day.

In Belize birders from across the country are forming teams and making plans for the 24 hrs birding event of the year.  Look out for birders in your neighborhood this Saturday and be kind to them as they are on a mission to scan trees, wetlands, seashores and forests throughout the country.

This event connects thousands of birders and nature lovers around the world through the global data base eBird which allows participants to log bird sightings of the day.

Why GBD—it’s fun, interactive and benefits research and conservation.
