By BBN Staff: Today, the faculty, staff, and students of Maud Williams High School welcomed special guests from the Ministry of Education, the United States Embassy, and Maud Williams herself, to the inauguration of a new building on their school compound.
Lt. Colonel Eldreridge Singleton, senior defense official and defense attache at the US Embassy explained that the building was sponsored by the US Embassy and has a total project value of $2 million.
The building contains four bathrooms, office space for administrative staff, a science laboratory, drafting room, home economics area, and sewing laboratory. Local Contractor Carlos Badilla won the bid to build the building, which took a year to complete.
Cruzita Castillo, the school’s principal, said that over 375 students will benefit from the new building because Maud Williams High School has a cooperation agreement with Excelsior High School and Sadie Vernon High School, where third and fourth form students come over to use the facility.
