By BBN Staff: Following a fatal shooting on Albert Street this morning, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has clarified that the deceased was shot following a robbery.
Williams explained that the deceased was in possession of a .45 caliber pistol, which is a prohibited weapon. He also reportedly had an accomplice in the robbery who escaped but was apprehended shortly after by police with the proceeds of the robbery in his pocket.
He also stressed that the event has caused much public alarm because it happened near Wesley Church while a service was happening. He said, however, that the public can rest assured police have the incident under control.
“We sympathize with the family of the young man that lost his life and appeal to parents to kindly monitor the activities of your children. Police officers are still on the scene and the matter is under control,” Williams said while reaffirming that the police will continue to protect the citizenry.
