Husband says gun accidentally shot wife

By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Honduran national, Francisca Noehemy Duarte Caceres, 31.

Caceres is the common-law-wife of Big Falls resident, Andrew Caliz, 48.

Around 5:00 a.m. today, police were called out to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital where they saw Caceres’ body with a single gunshot wound to her shoulder.

Caliz reported to police that he and Caceres were getting ready to travel to Belize City and he took his licensed .380 gun and put it on his waist.

According to Caliz,  the gun which was already cranked accidentally went off and hit Caceres.

Caceres was transported to the PG Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation is on going.
