Government of Taiwan makes donation for youth center in Albert Division

Posted: Wednesday, May 15, 2019. 11:22 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize H.E. Remus Chen, handed over a cheque for $30,000 in support of the Albert CARE Centre, a youth center to be set up in the Albert Division by area representative Tracy Taegar Panton.

The site of the youth center will be on the second floor of the Panton’s family which is home located at #56 Reagent Street. Panton explained that the main goals behind opening the center are providing a safe environment for primary and secondary school students, residents of the area, to do their assignments and projects; have a secure area to provide counseling services, and provide a place where the children can have access to computers and printing services.

Panton said that the donation does not represent a conflict of interest because the proposal to use the building for a youth center was set up by a committee and that committee has committed to using the building in service of the community.
