Andrew Caliz charged for murder

By BBN Staff: Businessman and Toledo resident, Andrew Caliz, 48, was charged today for the crime of ‘murder’ and ‘kept ammunition without a gun license’.

Caliz is being accused for murdering his common-law-wife, Honduran national Francisca Caceres.

On May 14, around 5:00 a.m., police were called out to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital where officers saw Caceres’ body with a single gunshot wound to her neck.

At the time, Caliz reported to police that he and Caceres were getting ready to travel to Belize City when he took his licensed .380 gun and put it on his waist.

According to Caliz, the gun which was already cranked accidentally went off and hit Caceres.

Caliz was arraigned before Punta Gorda Magistrate’s court and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
