By Aaron Humes: Belize’s Beach Jaguars beach soccer team were unable to register a win at the CONCACAF championship held this week in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Belize opened with a hard-fought 7-6 loss to Guadeloupe, which was back and forth from the start. Belize went up 1-0 through Evan Mariano; Guadeloupe hit back with 2 goals, then Marlon Meza, Raymond Ramos and Wayne Ford scored four times in eight minutes for a 5-2 Belize lead.
But the French-speaking Eastern Caribbean side dug deep and outscored Belize 4-1 in the final minutes to win it.
Belize’s second match was a washout, 7-1 to El Salvador, officially eliminating them after a Guadeloupe penalty shootout win following a 3-3 draw with Guyana.
For the second time this year, a Guyanese side got the better of Belize with a 3-2 win earlier this morning.
