By Aaron Humes: The Public Service Union (PSU), Belize’s largest trade union, is threatening to turn up the pressure on the Mayor of the City of Belmopan, Khalid Belisle, over the return of its hilltop property in the capital.
This morning, its chief executives lead by president Doreth Cayetano-Obermayer protested in front of City Hall in Belmopan.
Cayetano-Obermayer told reporters that the Mayor has been slow in responding and acting on a proposed swap of properties with Simplex Company Limited, having not responded to a letter giving a deadline of April 15 to respond.
The PSU leader says this is “just the beginning” of the Union’s actions to force a resolution to the issue.
Belisle told Channel 5 News he would withhold comment at this time.
