Posted: Friday, May 31, 2019. 4:08 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Cancer survivor, activist and current CEO in the Ministry of Labour, Local Government and Rural Development, Sharon Ramclam-Young, was drawn the winner of a 1-acre property on the Philip Goldson Highway raffled by the Belize Cancer Society.

Presented with her prize this afternoon at the Society headquarters in Belize City, she said she hadn’t thought about the ticket after buying it and had not decided what to do with it yet. But she maintained that she will continue to be part of the fight against cancer and encouraged others to get involved as well.
Young Rambla participated in the recent CEO Cancer Ride organized by the Government along with the Society.

Past president of the Society and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Laura Longworth, said that plans continue apace for expanded treatment centers both on Mercy Lane and in Dangriga to educate and support cancer survivors and their families.

The Mile 11 Ladyville Homesteads property was donated by Society Treasurer, Judith Vernon Hecker. A total of $14,540 was raised.
