Men accused of murder conspiracy of Lindsford Baldwin freed for lack of evidence

Posted: Sunday, June 2, 2019. 9:27 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Three men accused of conspiracy to murder Lindsford Baldwin saw charges dropped in court on Friday.

Eighteen-year-old Denver Bevans; 22-year-old Joshua Gillett and a minor were jointly charged, but attorney Herbert Panton insisted from the beginning that police had no evidence to support the charge or prove that they aided accused shooter Shawn Gibson.

Lindsford’s brother, Lyndon was gunned down on May 13 in Belize City; reports suggest his killers were looking for Lindsford instead. The prosecution threw in the towel after days of lobbying with police investigators who were not able to advance the case further.

Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer dismissed the charges but informed the trio that police can re-arrest them at any time on the same charge should they find the evidence to prove the charge.

Shawn Gibson remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison and is due back in court in July 2019.
