By BBN Staff: Today, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Holy Angels Roman Catholic (RC) Primary School in Pomona, Stann Creek.

That is where Westrac Ltd renovated the school’s lower division building which houses almost half of the school’s population — 116 students.

The Principal of Holy Angels RC, Sadie Acevedo, told BBN more. She said that Westrac contacted the school immediately after the school’s plight was aired on the evening news. According to her, the renovations lasted just over two months. The entire roof was replaced to stop water from entering the classrooms when it rained.

Additionally, new lights and fans were installed to improve the once poorly ventilated building. Furthermore, the building’s electrical system was upgraded. The classrooms  previously used wooden divisors but it has now been upgraded to cement. The classrooms were painted and new blackboards were installed as a part of the renovations.

“It is very conducive…It is very spacious…They fixed everything,” she said.

According to Principal Acevedo, she is very grateful and appreciates the assistance given. Westrac LTD is the largest auto and tractor parts supplier in Belize and the company has developed a stellar reputation for giving back to the community.
