By Aaron Humes: Manuel Diaz, 21, of Gardenia, Belize District, was caught red-handed trying to get into a woman’s house in the village and has been remanded on burglary charges.
The Gardenia woman reported to Ladyville police that she was inside her house when suddenly she heard a noise and noticed her window being pulled open from the lower hinch.
According to the woman, that is when she saw a man trying to enter her house. She recalled seeing the same man earlier socializing at her yard at a function.
She recognized the man, known to her as “Pepe” and screamed for help. Her uncle then came to her aid.
“Pepe” backed out through the window and ran out of the yard, escaping despite the uncle setting chase behind him.
The next day, Diaz, aka “Pepe” turned himself into the Ladyville Police Station where he was charged with burglary.
In court, he pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the Central Prison until August 6 after objections to bail.
