Posted: Wednesday, June 12, 2019. 9:49 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Twelve Cuban nationals, believed to have been smuggled into the country, were busted by police early this morning.

Just before 5 o’clock police on the San Antonio Road in the Orange Walk District were alerted by a maroon Ford van traveling in the direction of Santa Cruz Village at high speed.

Officers quickly pursued the van through the village but the driver jumped out of the moving van and escaped through some nearby bushes.

Upon inspection of the van, 12 Cuban nationals were found on board.

Nine were adults and three were children.

They were all detained and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station.
