By BBN Staff: The Belize-Cuba migratory discussion continues with a 2nd round of meetings to be held on Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21.
Representatives of Belize and Cuba will ratify their interest in increasing cooperation in this area.
Ernesto Soberon, Director General of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad of the Cuban Foreign Ministry and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Immigration and Refugee Services of Belize, Beverly Williams will chair the migratory talks.
In 2018, the 1st round of meetings was held in Havana, Cuba with both sides reviewing the migratory flow progress between both nations and crimes related to it.
Representatives from Belize and Cuba reaffirmed the importance of the meetings to strengthen two-way relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their will to implement joint actions to increase bilateral collaboration on migration.
They have now begun the negotiation of a Memorandum of Understanding on Migration, to foster a regular, orderly and safe migratory flow and to fight illegal migrant and human trafficking
