Governments of Belize and Taiwan team up for investment mission

By BBN Staff: The Governments of Belize (GOB) and the Republic of China (Taiwan) are teaming up to facilitate two investment missions to Belize in the upcoming week.

GOB, through the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Commerce, and the Embassy of Taiwan will launch the first of the two missions on Monday, June 24, at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina. The investment missions are geared towards having a positive socio-economic impact in the country by increasing foreign direct investments in prioritized industries.

Eight delegates from Taiwan are coming to Belize for the launch of the first mission, which will seek to discover investment opportunities in the tourism sector, which is one of the pillars of Belize’s economy.

“It is envisioned that the investment mission will provide strategic industry insights, through tailored meetings and site visits with key industry executives and decision makers in both the public and private sectors, matching the needs and interests of the delegates,” the Ministry said.

The second mission, expected to launch in October 2019, will focus on agriculture.
