By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has seized over 12 pounds of marijuana in three separate operations in the north and south.
On Friday, police searched a bushy area on Boom Creek Road, Punta Gorda town and found a bucket containing 3,756 grams (8.28 pounds) of marijuana. No one was in the area at the time of discovery so they deposited the marijuana as found property.
Also on Friday, police were conducting a checkpoint at the entrance of San Jose village and Philip Goldson Highway, when officers stopped a bus headed to Orange Walk town. On the bus, they found a pink bag containing 1,037 grams of marijuana (2.28 pounds). The bag was the property of Kimisha Locke. Police have since detained Locke pending
charges.
At that same checkpoint, around 3:45 a.m. today, cops searched another bus and found a black school bag containing 968 grams of marijuana
(2.13 pounds). The bag was on the passenger rack and no one claimed it so it was also labeled as found property.
The three incidents led police to a total 5,671 grams (12.5 pounds) of marijuana.
