Police release details on double death aboard the “Johnnie G”

By Aaron Humes: Mario Graniel, 53, a tour guide of San Pedro Town, and Gary Paul Swank,53, an American are confirmed dead after being shot around 11:30 Sunday morning off the coast of Ambergris Caye.

According to Police, Graniel was found inside a skiff vessel registered as “Johnnie G” about a mile west of San Pedro Town, while Swank’s body was face down in the lagoon about 30 feet away. Both bodies showed evidence of gunshot injuries.

Around 10 a.m. the men had gone fly fishing in the lagoon off Ambergris when police say a dark-colored skiff passed by and opened fire on their boat. Police continue to investigate.
