By Aaron Humes: A “rough day” will cost 20-year-old Edwin Swazo of Pitter Street, Belize City $150.

Swazo pleaded guilty to committing a mischievous act against Constable Kris Staine during a “stop-and-search” on Tuesday afternoon, June 25.

According to Constable Staine, he searched Swazo at an Antelope Street Extension address and asked his name.

Swazo decided to “fool around” and give his name as Deandre Jones when he knew that his real name was Edwin Swazo.

He was fooling around and claim that is when he gave the police a wrong name which is an offense.

Magistrate Trapp asked Swazo why he did that to the police officer. That is when he told the magistrate, “[I] was having a rough day.”

For the offense, Magistrate Trapp imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of $150.00 plus a $5.00 cost of court which he was ordered to pay by July 9, 2019; in default one-month imprisonment.
