By BBN Staff: The National Institute of Culture and History through the Institute of Creative Arts and in collaboration with Corozal Organization of East Indian Culture and Heritage (COEICH) – a member of the newly formed Belize Organization of People of Indian Descent (BOPID) – will host East Indian dance classes and pageant training workshops in Corozal Town, from July 3 to August 3, 2019.

As a cultural exchange visitor, Samanta Ramkarran, a dance instructor from the National Council of Indian Culture and Prema Shakti Dancers from Trinidad and Tobago, will be in Belize to share her exceptional skill and knowledge of the composition and structure of Indian Dance using a holistic method.

With a career spanning for over 20 years,  Ramkarran’s choreographies are carefully researched to depict the essence of the various styles she performs, namely Bharatanatyam,  Kathak and Bollywood.

Anyone wishing to participate in this initiative is invited to do so by registering for the workshops.

Belizean youths of East Indian descent are encouraged to sign up and train for the Belize Miss East Indian Pageant which will be held on August 3, 2019.

The training workshops are scheduled as two separate daily sessions from Monday to Friday.
