Belize beats El Salvador, secures Silver Medal in U23 volleyball championship

By BBN Staff: Belize triumphed over El Salvador today at the U23 Central American Volleyball Championship in Nicaragua. With this win, Belize’s record is 4 wins and 2 losses for a total of 20 points, and with this record Belize secured the Silver Medal. Of the four (4) times Belize’s U23 participated in this regional competition, this is the first time that the team won the silver medal.

Costa Rica, who beat Belize earlier this week won the Gold Medal and Nicaragua won Bronze.

El Salvador played a close game in every set, but team Belize still managed to take the first three sets. The score in the first set was 26-24, second set 25-21 and third set 25-22.

In August 2018, Belize’s national volleyball team also won the Silver Medal and Costa Rica took home the Gold. These games were played at the Civic Center and Belizeans ‘en masse’ were glued to their television sets as the volleyball players performed extremely well and boosted our national pride.
