American cardiologist to be laid to rest in his hometown, Roanoke

By BBN Staff: The family of loved American cardiologist, Dr. Gary Swank is preparing to lay him to rest in his hometown Roanoke, Virginia.

Visitation for Dr. Swank will be held Tuesday from 6-7 pm at St. John Lutheran Church on Brambleton Ave., in Roanoke.

A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 7 p.m.

Swank’s life came to an abrupt end on Sunday, June 23 just one day after arriving in Belize for a family vacation.

Swank and local tour guide, Mario Graniel had gone fly fishing when they were both murdered. Belizean authorities say that Swank was a victim of circumstances since he was not the intended target.

Authorities are actively investigating this double murder that shook the San Pedro community.
