BELTRAIDE completes First Female Entrepreneurship Program in Belize

Posted: Thursday, July 4, 2019. 1:26 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) through support from the Regional Center of Promotion for MSME (CENPROMYPE) concludes Belize’s first Female Entrepreneurship Program with a graduation ceremony to honor 13 successful women participants.

The Female Entrepreneurship Program began in November 2018 with the transfer of the Methodology to BELTRAIDE and other BSOs such as the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Women’s Department, and the Belize City Council.

The goal of the program was to improve and strengthen the participants’ leadership skills, economic empowerment, and business development skills.

From March 1st to June 28, 2019, female entrepreneurs participated in group meetings, workshops, and personalized business advising, which taught them self-leadership, financial management, life and business goal setting, and customer discovery and validation.

These women, whose businesses ranged from priority areas such as spa and wellness, creative industry, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and agro-processing, hail from all districts of Belize.

In addition, a major achievement of the program was the launch of the women mentorship network, SHEMentors Belize, that features female entrepreneurs and leaders who champion for their inclusion in the entrepreneurship dialogue.

The graduation ceremony is taking place today at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel.
