By BBN Staff: A man was murdered in Chetumal, Mexico yesterday in front of Fiesta Inn.

The news spread like wildfire in Belize since initial reports indicated that he was a Belizean but that was dispelled shortly after. However, Mexican media outlets are reporting that the victim, Juan Ulises Galvan Carmona held Belizean, Guatemalan and Mexican passports.

Carmona was popularly known as ‘El Buda’ and was an operator for the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to Mexican news, Carmona had only moved to Chetumal months ago and was murdered near the apartment where he was staying.

But Carmona’s resume includes his work for the Beltran Leyva Cartel and then the Sinaloa Cartel.

Carmona was an associate of a man known as ‘El Checo” who was a significant operator of the Sinaloa Cartel for the transfer of drugs from Central and South America to Mexico.

In 2012, Carmona was arrested along with other associates from Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman. Carmona along with other associates from the Sinaloa Cartel were responsible for the communications and directions of all the boats that arrived with drugs into Mexico.

It is believed that Carmona’s arrival to Chetumal, Quintana Roo is linked to the increase of landing of narco-aircrafts in Belize and Mexico.
