By BBN Staff: Noewellin Williams, 44, will stand trial for the August 2018 stabbing death of his ex-wife Roxanna Pop, 33.
Williams appeared before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, yesterday, where she informed him he would stand trial in the October session of the Supreme Court. Due to the nature of his offense, the court did not take a plea and Williams was remanded back to the Belize Central
Prison until his next court date.
Williams committed the brutal act on August 10, 2018, around 7 p.m. at the Boulevard Plaza Central American Boulevard, Belize City. Eyewitnesses say that Pop was standing on the veranda of the establishment when Williams walked up to her and stabbed her, reported telling her that he was doing so because she had left him.
Pop’s family said that Williams had a history of abusing her. Pop was a mother of three.
