Posted: Monday, July 8, 2019. 6:41 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a broad area of low pressure that is forecasted to form over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday.

According to the NHC, environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for development and a tropical depression is likely to form by the end of the week while the system moves slowly westward across the northern Gulf of Mexico.

The system has the potential to produce heavy rainfall along portions of the northern and eastern United States Gulf Coast later this week.

There is a 30% chance of formation through the next 48 hours and 80% formation chance throughout the next 5 days.
