PUP claims victory in round 3 of village council elections

By BBN Staff: The People’s United Party (PUP) is claiming victory in round 3 of village council elections held yesterday.

A total of 43 villages (7 in Corozal; 5 in Orange Walk; 6 in Belize; 6 in Cayo; 7 in Stann Creek and 12 in Toledo) were involved in this third round.

The breakdown of the results shows the PUP winning a total of 23 villages,  the UDP winning a total of 17 villages, while 3 villages went Independent.

The breakdown by district also shows the PUP leading with 164 seats, UDP with 111 seats and Independent with 26 seats.

The PUP congratulates all candidates who contested yesterday’s elections especially to the 164 PUP candidates who were victorious.
