By BBN Staff: Today, M&M Engineering Consultants Ltd and the Ministry of Works issued a caution to the public that they will be transporting extremely long and heavy bridge beams on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, 2019.

The beams will be transported from Ladyville through Burrell Boom Road and unto the George Price Highway with destination to the new Roaring Creek bridge site in Belmopan.

Personnel from the traffic and police departments will escort the beams to ensure public safety on the highway.

The public is advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching the convoy transporting the beams as it may take up the entire width of the highway.

For this reason, drivers are urged to follow the traffic signals and instructions of the traffic authority to ensure safety.

Drivers should not attempt to overtake if not given a clear signal by traffic and police personnel escorting the beams.

In addition to the transportation of the beams on the aforementioned dates, the public is advised that on Saturday, July 13, 2019, and Sunday, July 14, 2019 that the Roaring Creek bridge will be temporarily closed for short intervals to accommodate the installation of the beams.

The duration of the closure will be for 45-minute intervals between 7 a.m. and midday on both Saturday and Sunday.

There will be flagmen and police present to assist with traffic control.

The Ministry of Works thanks the public for their kind cooperation in respecting and abiding by these road safety measures.
