Government cautions against Dealing with Trust Lands in San Jose Palmar

Posted: Thursday, July 11, 2019. 4:34 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize informs that in 1936, a trust was created in favor of the San Jose Palmar Indians.

Pursuant to the terms of the trust, the Government of Belize is entrusted with the power to dispose of the trust lands in accordance with the advice of the committee appointed by the villagers of San Jose Palmar.

However, the Government informs that at this time, there is no legally constituted committee and the Government is in the process of appointing such committee.

As such, until that is done, the public is advised against dealing with any trust lands outside of the terms of the trust deed.

The Government of Belize further says that it assumes no responsibility for any liability incurred as a consequence of reliance or otherwise, by any person, estate or otherwise, on any representation or otherwise, that is contrary to the terms of the trust deed.

The Government of Belize reiterates that it is the sole entity entrusted with the power to dispose of the trust lands in accordance with the terms of the trust.
